Principal’s Message

Principal-message

I wish you a warm welcome to Glenasmole National School. We are a small, four-classroom school located within the rural community in Glenasmole valley, just outside of Dublin city. We cherish and appreciate the beautiful location of our school by encouraging the children to value their environment, their history and culture and their community.

We have four class groupings for children aged 4 to 12. The multi-class setting enables children to develop skills in independent and small-group learning. We teach the Primary School Curriculum through the school subjects, and also through a variety of projects. Our school has been a Green School since 2005, leading the children to an appreciation of their role in protecting the environment and developing an understanding of sustainable living. We are now working towards our 8th Green Schools flag in the theme Global Citizenship – Marine Environment.

Our Discover Primary Science projects are designed to encourage a sense of curiosity in the children and enable them to engage in active learning processes. We have been working towards becoming an Active School over the past few years and are hoping to achieve our first Active Schools flag in 2021. This project encourages the children to make the most of every opportunity to be physically active, within the school day and at home.

We Accept applications from prospective parents throughout the year and those interested are encouraged to contact the school by way of telephone (01) 4624143, or e-mail by using the contact form to get information. In order to gain more insight into our school, parents can attend A school tour before applying. School tours for parents are held monthly. Each tour gives parents an opportunity to observe students and teachers in our classrooms.

We aim to provide an unrivalled learning experience for all our pupils, all taught in a unique setting

Education is commonly and formally divided into stages such as preschool, primary school, secondary school and then college, university or apprenticeship. The methodology of teaching is called pedagogy.

We look forward to welcoming you and your children to Glenasmole National School, should you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Best Regards

Mary McColgan
